River Trips
Big Bend National Park sits in the 'big bend' of the Rio Grande River, and includes several major canyons. Other opportunities for river trips exist in and beyond the National Park in Big Bend Ranch State Park.
River trips can be as brief as a single half-day, or take an entire week. The river can be enjoyed by raft, canoe or kayak. Visitors may elect to contact one of the outfitters below to arrange a guided trip (which includes equipment, shuttles, food and interpretive information) or rent equipment for their own adventure. Big Bend National Park does not conduct any river trips.
Note: River trips are highly dependent on environmental conditions - both in terms of weather and water flow. Always check with either an experienced outfitter or Big Bend National Park staff before beginning a river trip. In addition, all persons taking a river trip should be familiar with laws relating to private property and the current policies of the United State Border Patrol regarding contact with Mexico.
