Bike Run Route

The ride route for the 14th Annual Ride for Trails in Big Bend National Park is as follows:

Saturday, October 15, 2011
First bike out at 8:00 a.m.; Last bike out at 11:00 a.m.

Beginning of Ride: Terlingua Porch, Terlingua Ghost Town
Head down Hwy. 170 to Hwy. 118, turn right towards Study Butte, store is 1.5 miles on the left.

2nd Stop: Study Butte Store, Study Butte (5 miles from previous stop)
Continue south on Hwy. 118, enter Big Bend National Park through the Maverick Entrance Station, proceed 10 miles until the Junction for Castolon at Mile Marker 13, turn right on Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive until just past Mile Marker 8 at the Sotol Vista Overlook.

3rd Stop: Sotol Vista Overlook, Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, Big Bend National Park (23 miles from previous stop)
Head back down the Ross Maxell Scenic Drive until the stop sign, turn right and go 10 miles. Just before Mile Marker 3 at the Chisos Basin Junction, turn right and climb the Basin Road for 7 miles until it ends at the Vistor's Center and Lodge.

4th Stop: Chisos Basin (25 miles from previous stop)
Return down the Basin Road until the stop sign, turn right and proceed 3 miles to Panther Junction (Park Headquarters).

End of Ride: Panther Junction Visitor Center, Park Headquarters (10 miles from previous stop)
Last bike must be in by 2:00 p.m.

It is a 25 mile ride back to the Ride for Trails event headquarters/Rally site in Study Butte. Poker Run cards will be distributed at the RFT Headquarters (Study Butte) the morning of the Bike Run. Bikes then head on to the first Poker Run stop.
